SUNDY BEST
Formed in 2010 by Nicholas Jamerson and Kris Bentley, Sundy Best came roaring out of the hills of Eastern Kentucky with an acoustic guitar, a cajón, and a sound that never fit neatly into one category. Country, rock, folk, Appalachian music. it’s all there, but the heart of Sundy Best has always been the stories. home, heartbreak, leaving, coming back, growing older, raising hell, finding grace, and trying to make sense of where you come from. Forging an organic, grassroots path along the way, paired with the boom of social media and marketing, Sundy Best helped pave the way for other independent artists to develop, grow and sustain.
What began as two friends playing wherever somebody would let them, grew into sold-out rooms, records that traveled far beyond Kentucky, and a community of kinfolk who saw their own lives in the songs. From Redmons to the Grand Ole Opry and everywhere in between, their music has continued to open new doors and become a useful platform in times of regional need and devastation. Through albums like Door Without a Screen,
Bring Up the Sun, Salvation City, and the music that followed, Sundy Best built a catalog rooted in place without being confined by it. After years apart pursuing their own lives and creative paths, Jamerson and Bentley eventually found their way back to Sundy Best, not as the same youngins who started it, but as brothers with more life behind them and more to say.
That history is part of the music now. Sundy Best has always been about friendship as much as anything else. Two people from Eastern Kentucky making something together, carrying home with them wherever they go, and inviting everybody in the room to be part of it.
